To go to 1400 pounds, the plane must be converted to a 415D model, which switches it to TCDS A-787. Note that once you do this, the airplane will not be useable by a sport pilot ever again, even if converted back to a C. One of those weird FAA things.
Changes as best I can remember, from a C to a D are the trim tab, which must done for the 1320 STC, and skin over the cowl tank must be replaced with stainless steel, and the MLG oleos must have the correct orifice size, which I don't remember. So you have to do those things and redo the paperwork to convert it to a D. I believe the process for converting to a D is spelled out in TCDS A-718.

Can anyone advise what would need to be done to convert 415 c 1946 ercoupe from 1320 lb gross to 1400 gross d model? Cost? Can anyone advise
