I bit the bullet and bought a set of Lightspeed PFX. The cords are very flexible and Kevlar strong. I also bought a set of ear pads for my older Zulu 1s. I actually like the 1s better. If you watch on eBay, you can get a pretty good deal on used ones. I actually like them better than the Bose A20s I tried.

Larry. Thanks for the info. I inherited a Dave Clark 0912 model head set with my plane. It did not have active noise cancelling. My CFI suggest the 6001anr by Active Headsets Inc. as good quality and good value. It has improved my hearing in the plane substantially. I've very happy with the set for less than $400.

I upgraded from a Clark 13.4 to a LIghtspeed Zulu 3 this summer and am happy that I did. I have slight hearing loss and it made a big difference.

I bought the first generation Bose to use in a 206 commercial helicopter.
Smartest thing I ever did to enhance radio communications and to save my
hearing. The succeeding generations have only got better . I now have 2 of A10 model for the 'coupe.
The A10 has auto off. The bluetooth is GREAT to couple to your cellphone for emergency or routine calling.
The Bose automatically adds 'soundproofing' to the 'coupe with no added cost !
Go first class. You won't regret it.

Scott. Thank you. It's certainly acknowledged that Bose is the top of the line and the most expensive. I got a tip about DRE with ANR noise cancelling and this set is less than half the cost of Bose. The initial test with them was great. The ANR made a huge difference.
