Impressive panel (not only the Autoland ;) )
Looks that the G5 is becoming a must have!

You might consider this as an option if you fly into bad weather or have a problem mother-in-law.

Yes, it's a joke based on the Garmin Autoland System for turboprops and jets.

My M-10 is also IFR. I have a King KX-125 with KI-214 indicator for both localizer and glide slope, and a Garmin GPS175 hooked to my G5 as localizer and glide slope of Rnav approaches. To be honest, I would not intentionally go into IMC conditions as the airplane is so light that any kind of turbulence will really beat you up compared to say a Bonanza but, as the old saying goes, "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."
I have had a lot of fun practicing ILS and Rnav approaches and the equipment I have does a nice job. The GPS 175 also has VFR approaches where you get a GPS localizer and 3 degree glide slope BUT it does not check for obstructions, hence it is VFR.

Yes, thanks Josef.
I would be happy if you can show a photo if you can ;-)
What about the pitot heater? Isn't it mandatory for IFR certification?

Hi Laurent,

My Aircoupe (Alon) is IFR certified. It has all the required instruments for doing so - which seems to be the biggest difference between mine and most others. I also have a VOR/ILS receiver. Someday I might have a certified GPS receiver for RNAV approaches. So - it's of limited use, but still better than nothing.

I'm also flying with a G5 Attitude indicator which tends to put everything in one place - other than the approach information.

does that help?

josef

I am wondering the gap to upgrade my M10's panel in order to be IFR compliant. For those you fly Ercoupe or M10 in IFR, how is your plane's panel looking like?

Also do you have a pitot heater?
