My question had been would you rather go a couple of mph faster or clear that tree at the end of the runway? A cruise prop will gain you a little speed, but not that much. I find the assurance of a good climb comforting. I have a 7149 on my C85 with the O200 crank STC and it’s perfect. Climbs great and cruises at 110 mph.

I have an Alon A2A with a McCauley 1B90CM7148 climb prop. I many need servicing and a dynamic balance. I was offered the option of repitching it to a cruise prop. The Alon A2 equipment list says the standard prop is a 7150 with the 7148 and 7153 as options. Is there any real speed advantage to the 7150 or 53? What would the climb sacrifice be with the cruise props?
