Check my "Snap vents" subject. I lost too much climb and cruise with the canopy unlatched. The snap vents were the solution.

I have had them pop open multiple times, usually as I apply power to take off. With the canopy unlatched but closed, I get MUCH more cooling air in the summer but lose about 4-5 mph in cruise.

I have never cared for the canopy latches on my 1970 M10, they consist of a little threaded rod with a "catch" at the end. It needs to be adjusted just so or it wii not draw up tight, or if too tight will pop in flight.Of course the right side is the most finicky. I believe I saw an Alon once that had a different style latch, with a single metal strap, not ulike a lunch box latch. Any of you M10 guys dealt with this also? Wondering if there was more than one style latch? Any comments most welcome.
