Mike, I have NO idea about the Forney mounts specifically, but I did just help someone hang an engine on an RV8. Mainly I was the nearest guy who owned an engine hoist but I did get to help out with the whole process.

Specifically, they hung the engine and then checked the alignment where the crankshaft came out of the front cowling - to see whether the spinner would be centered. It would have been too low in the hole (the sagging you refer to?) and slightly to one side.

They had additional washers, just like the pair of washers that came with the new engine mounts - to shim the motor mounts and center the crankshaft in the front of the cowling. It ended up needing two extra washer/shims on the lower left mount, one on the lower right mount, one on the upper left mount, and no additional washer/shims on the upper right mount. This swung the crankshaft into the proper position.

Again, I have no idea whether this applies to your situation, but since I just saw this happen firsthand I figured it was worth mentioning.

EDIT: I looked at a diagram of the Forney mount. It's really hard to tell whether or not this would work because the drawing didn't show the engine and engine mount. They're definitely different then those used in the RV mount. If you want to post a photo of an assembled engine mount -or- let me know what you end up doing to center the engine I would LOVE to know how this works out.

Replacing motor mounts on 1960 Forney. Have the new ones in. Prior to torque and safety, is there a way to “center” them so the bottom ones don’t appear to sag? These are Lord mounts made in US. Mike.
