David you got it, an SP can fly a 415-C or CD that has not been converted to a D.

Randy, do I understand you correctly. The ercoupe 415C can be flown as an LSA, but the pilot must hold a PPL?
Update: Found the answer in another post. A sport pilot may fly a type certificated aircraft provided the aircraft meets, and has always met (not recertified out of LSA class) LSA restrictions.

Gene - This has been a topic of confusion for me as well. For my own sanity let me clarify this: As a PP you can operate a 415-C or CD (that is Sport Pilot Eligible - ie has never been modified for 1400lb gross weight) by exercising Sport Pilot privileges with just a drivers license as a medical.

That is not a list of aircraft eligible for LSA status. That is a list of certified aircraft which meet the criteria allowing a sport pilot to fly it. LSAs are manufactured under ASTM rules, very different from FAA rules. Light sport pilot certificates and light sport aircraft are two different things.
