Matt,
That looks like an excellent recommendation, I will get it for my Coupe.
Thanks again,
Tim

Matt,
You are a veritable fountain of knowledge! I see you on this forum all the time helping your fellow Coupers and I really appreciate the effort. Thanks for clipping that FAA language for me. This is why I think I'd like to get a rotating beacon or strobe, assuming it does not cost me too much weight. The language about coverage areas is really complicated but I think the gist of it is that if I mount a rotating beacon on the fuselage somewhere behind the cockpit either on top of or below the fuselage I should be able to meet that requirement. Is that how you read it?
Thanks again,
Tim

see FAR 91.205(c)(3), I believe all you would need is a rotating beacon.

Matt,
Thanks for weighing in. You make good points. It is my impression that an anti-collision light is needed to legally fly after sunset. While I don't plan to fly my coupe at night much, I can visualize times in the winter where I might be returning after dusk when the sun is setting around 4:30pm. Do you think I am required to have it for night flight?

is there a reason you want them ? it is added weight and electrical load. They are not required equipment. if you want to pursue it, Whelen would be your best choice, but you might have to change your nav light assemblies as well.
