empennage dents was created by Jack Lawless
I just purchased a Alon and had it delivered across the country to me. A pre purchase inspection was done but did not really mention this issue. So I don't know if it is an issue. I found dent's in the right side of the empennage just below the horizontal stabilizer. I don't know whether the dents were caused by something that was pushed against it like a leg while trying to move the plan or if they were caused by flight stresses at some point. Since the empennage is part of the airframe structure I am also concerned whether the strength of the structure is compromised. Another pilot told me he has seen the same thing on some other coupes. Does anyone have any insight on this? Though I got my pilots license in 1962 in a Forney I have never been involved in the maintenance of a coupe. It's all new to me.
