I'm selling as soon as I get it back from the annual. Mine has metal wings so the empty weight is about 940. I have the STD for 1320 giving me around 380 pounds useful load. I weigh 220 and 10 gallons of gas is 60 so unless my buyer is really skinny, we can't go together. How do potential buyers do test flights if they need 5 hours of training before going up?

I have the same 5-hour requirement on my insurance. Check Falcon with the EAA. They are usually cheaper. It all depends on total time and time in make and model. I don’t think I’d let somebody fly my plane who didn’t have some Ercoupe time!

I get my insurance through AOPA's broker, Assured, who shops it around to various insurers. This year's cheapest quote ($1,350) requires me to get 1 hour of flight training from a CFI in my make/model of airplane (415-C). The next cheapest ($1,450) has no flight training requirement for me but a 5-hour requirement for any other pilot I allow to fly it under the Open Pilot clause.
Is this common? Any way to get around it?
