I had always believed this ,but a post on another site suggested that the changes that needed to be made would put
the plane out of the bounds of the light sport rule. Suppose I'm looking for confirmation that I'm correct.

If you buy the STC to increase the gross weight to 1320 pounds, making all the required changes (large trim tab, elevator up travel limited to 9°) the you airplane is still light sport legal. That was the whole point of the STC!

My ercoupe is light sport qualified with a grose weight of 1260 lbs. I was about to purchase the stc to increase this weight to 1320 lbs when I read a post
that if I do my plane will no longer be Light Sport qualified. When I bought my plane the previous owner said that all the requirements to increase the weight
were completed but he did not file the paperwork. Can anyone clear this up for me, should I not purchase the stc ?
