Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm looking for more information to justify the cost!
But I misspoke about the nature of the valve problem.
What My IA said was that the lead carried by the extra fuel fouls the exhaust valves and guides.
The Marvel is on the engine type certificate, so the swap is a logbook entry.

I’ve been flying with a Stromberg for many years without difficulties. You can put a Marvel on if you wish, there’s an STC for that, I believe.
I do not understand how rich running can damage an exhaust valve. Normally it’s running lean that burns up valves.
Anyway, if you have the bucks, putting in a Marvel should be no big deal.

I'd like to re-ask this question.
My C-85, with the Stromberg, runs rich and I'd like to have real mixture control, like for idle cut-off.
Also, my IA says my rich running Stromberg caused my recent exhaust valve failure.

Which carburetor: the Stromberg or the Marvel Schebler do you prefer and why?
