I forgot to ask if he had the oil tank baffle, it does make a difference, even if it is a royal PIA to fit.

I have the same issues.
new cylinders roughly 20 hours on them. But before the new cylinders, I had the same temp issues on warmer days. My cruise is around 85mph. I feel that could be part of my problem. I’ve recently wondered if my rigging was off causing the slow cruise and compounded the over heating.
anyone know a recouped a&p in Minnesota that could look at that?

was this the first time it got hot or a on going issue ? there are a few ways the engine is cooled, air over the cylinders and over the oil tank, oil, and fuel. With a Stromberg you don't really have a way to control the mixture, so that leaves oil as something you have control of, what is your normal oil level ? running low on oil is like running your car low on coolant.

The oil pressure dropped a little after it began to heat up, Oil level was about 3.75 qts., mag check was normal, no recent engine work and I think the carb is a Stromberg.

I have a 1946 415C.  Yesterday I was flying and noticed the Temp Gauge creeping up.  By the time I got back to the airport the temp was almost to red line (about 220 deg).  Outside temp was about 90,  Oil was O.K., no obstruction at air inlets and baffles were fine.  Any ideas what the problem can be?
