Window Welt Glue

BE PREPARED and FOREWARNED!  Replacing the window welts is a royal pain in the ass.  Even with Lynn's expert guidance and experience it still was a major pain.  But it had to be done to protect the new windows I'd bought.  Also, the last window welt job was jack-legged by someone.

Lynn Nelsen and I replaced mine this past summer in my 'coupe.  We used 3M 90 Hi Strength from Lowes.  There are a couple of 3M types (77 and 90).  Don't get the 77.  It won't hold.  The 3M 90 holds great, but takes at least 24 hours to fully cure.  You will need a couple of cans to do the job.

I have not seen the pdf writeup before. I was surprised to see the sketch that shows the felt in the channel and not against the window.
The used one I have clearly was installed backward with the felt inside. I would have repeated the same thing.

Hello All,

I have seen some writeup about welt replacement, but have not seen any mention of which glue to use.
Can I assume it is contact cement? Or something else?
If contact cement, do both the welts and inside the track get coated, let dry a wee bit then squeeze in?
