Service Memo 35 on rigging the Ercoupe describes a method of curing a heavy wing by bending the trailing edge of the aileron on the wing opposite the heavy wing down a small amount. You can find it under “resources” on the Univair web site.

Heavy Wing was created by Jerome Carncross
Just purchased a 1947 Ercoupe Model 415C.  During the ferry trip home to Wisconsin from Iowa I noticed that I seemed to be holding the right wing up all the time.  When trimmed for straight and level, releasing the control wheel results in slight bank and turn to the right.  Aileron trim appears to be normal on each wing.  Wing tip to ground measurements are the same for each wing.  Fuel levels in each wing tank are the same.

Has this happened to anyone else out there and are there any suggestions to correct this?

Thank-you,

Jerry Carncross
