With the FAA paper works so screwed up, i.e., 415 being listed as Forneys. 415 Cs on the paperwork that have been converted to Ds and Es. Plus, so many inspectors do not know anything about what model an Ercoupe is anyhow. I for one has never be ramp checked... My CD was flown @ 1400+ /- with no sweat.

There are lots of C models with the E type elevator via STC. Alpha sells the STC for $200. It has no impact on gross weight so it’s perfectly fine on a light sport eligible Ercoupe. No problem!

You'll have to file paperwork on your changes to keep the plane legal so I don't think you can call it a C model anymore nor can you keep it LSA.

Ercoupe 415-C with 415-E elevator STC was created by Mauricio Iacuelli
Hi!

I’m in the process of buying a 415-C that has the STC installed to bring the max gross weight to 1320lbs. It has the C-85 conversion with the O-200 crankshaft/connecting rods/piston

If I were to go forward with the STC to install a type E elevator on a 415-C would that automatically officially adjust the gross weight to 1400lbs or can I keep it officially at 1320 lbs to keep the LSA requirement in place? I guess the question becomes can I keep it as a type C with an E elevator on the back.

I’m curious because I will be flying the airplane most of the time at near to max gross weight of 1320 lbs and would prefer a safety cushion. (The airplane has a useful load of 400 lbs and my wife and I eat up 300lbs of that!)

Thanks for your thoughts!
