My battery box has styrofoam and wood filling the space. In top there is a thin rubber sheet. that lays over the battery

That's a good info on battery size, wish that was mentioned in the service bulletin.  I found a picture of the old CB-25 battery.  The acid caps stick up a bit, so I see how that could clamp down on the lid.

I will do a test fit with the caps on the battery until I get a system worked out.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  Who knew using the right battery would cause so much trouble.

The original 25 batteries were the same size as today’s 35 size, so the RG-25 doesn’t fill the box. I put cardboard spacers on the ends of the battery to keep it from shifting. I also put a thick rubber pad on the bottom of the lid so there can’t be a short on the terminals. Make sure you have good grommets where the wires exit the box.

I am looking for some guidance on how the recommended battery (per SM67) is suppose to be secured in the stock battery box.  I currently have a stock (or I believe it to be) battery box and a new lid from Univair (415-54040).  When I mount up the battery to the lid, it does not appear that the battery would be secure along the length of the battery or vertically.  It also looks like the lid would press on the terminals.Does anyone have any pictures they could share of how the battery mounts in the battery box?
