Lawson, there’s a chance that your welts were installed incorrectly. If you can see the felt strip in the channel, it’s wrong. The felt strip should go against the metal and not be visible. Mine is also wrong. (we had the same installer.) It pretty much takes two hands to raise and lower the windows on mine. On the plus side, they stay in place when I partially open them.

We have brand new sliding windows and window welts, they are still a paint to open, we put grease on it and it hardly helped,
How can we make them more smooth and easy to open?
also, they are already scratched up and there brand new, any ideas why?
