The practical differences between the C and D model are few (larger trim tab,
landing gear rate mod. The 85 hp engine is not relevant to the weight increase). Fred Weick was upset that the FAA unnecessarily limited the elevator to
9 degrees on the D model. Put a larger trim tab on a C model and you are good to go (not legal at 1400 but that is another discussion).

I haven't tried this, but was wondering if anyone has. I have heard of people overloading a 415C to the gross weight of a 415D (1400#). With a max up elevator of 13 degrees instead of the 9 degrees for a D model, is there a notable difference in stalling characteristics? Or other noticeable differences caused by the 13 degrees up elevator on a 1400# gross weight plane?
