Airline History Museum - Kansas City Downtown was created by Larry Snyder
A Convair 440 and a Lockheed Constellation are on display in this museum, which covers a lot of the history of Kansas City Downtown Airport (KMKC) where luminaries like Howard Hughes and Charles Lindbergh made stops. The tower controllers at MKC are friendly and helpful, and be sure to contact KC approach and avoid KMCI class B air space. But it's really easy to get in. Go the spanking new General Aviation terminal and fuel farm on the west side of the airport. You will find very cheap fuel and a beautiful terminal. To get into the terminal you need a code which will be printed on your fuel purchase receipt. The museum is directly south of the GA area. I believe you can taxi down to the museum (ask the tower). Very nice place and great airplanes. They have an L-1011 open as a museum annex. And while you are there, call a cab and visit Arthur Bryant's BBQ in downtown KC. It looks seedy, but it's the most authentic BBQ you will ever eat. I've gone there since 1969. Steven Spielberg sends his private jet to KC just to get that BBQ! I saw Jimmy Carter there in 1973...
