I can’t figure the reasoning behind putting the experimental version in a certificated aircraft. If it’s legal to use the experimental version why would anyone ever buy the certified one?
I’d say not legal, unless there’s some angle I’m unaware of.

I would like to install a Garmin G5 EFIS, and I was told by the previous owner of my 415D that I could legally use the experimental version, which is over $1000 cheaper than the "certified" version. My 415D is too heavy to qualify for LSA. Any thoughts?
