Thank You!  I had forgotten about that with Part 91 flying.  The only entries regarding the propeller are on the attached logbook page.  I guess I am more concerned about corrosion than anything else.  The HD pictures I have of it show it to be in excellent condition.  I believe that this is the same propeller that was on the plane when it came off the production line.  I do not have the SN, so I really have no way to tell at this moment.  Thank you again for your assistance.

Here's block 8.  This was approved back in 1994 via the 337 field approval since the O-200 STC didn't cover Alons at that time.  Now there is coverage on the STC.

John - I'd love to see a copy of the field approval you have for that prop. Any chance you can snap a pic and either post here or text it to me?

I had a similar decision to make last year. My McCauley propeller was installed in 1994 and had almost 2000 hours on it. I decided to send it to a prop shop for inspection and refinish. I guess I'm glad I did because it failed the inspection due to corrosion in the bolt holes. Unfortunately it took almost a year to get a replacement due to lingering Covid supply chain issues. In my case I needed a DCM69/50 to comply with an O-200 field approval installation, or find a different O-200 propeller and get that field approved. I couldn't find either option, new or used, so waited for McCauley to make one.

Part 91 flying has no requirements to complete Service Bulletins. It may be a good idea, but is not a requirement.

Any competent propeller shop can "overhaul" one of these, which mostly consists of making multiple measurements across the faces and verifying the length and examining for fatigue.
Typically, an overhaul includes checking static balance and repainting.

Hello All,

I am investigating the purchase of an A2-A with the C90-16F motor.  It has a 1B90/CM7151 propeller on it that has never been overhauled per McCauley Service Bulletin #SB137AE, which states that the propeller must be overhauled every 2,000 hours or 72 months, whichever comes first.  This particular propeller has been on this plane since at least 2016, and more likely since earlier, as the prop log is missing.
Has anyone had any experience with getting these overhauled? Who is best to use, and what is the average expense?  Thanks!
