I noticed the same thing and am closing the fuel valve at the dash and on the floor during shut down and it seems to no longer lose gas in the header tank while it sits inside.

My bobber drops an inch or so if the plane sits a while. My fuel valve is closed, too, so it’s not a leaking carb needle. I chalk it up to evaporation. Remember, the trip from all the way up to all the way down on the bobber is about 2 ½ gallons of fuel. So you’re not losing a lot. I’m not even sure we’re losing anything. But I’ve been flying it for 17 years that way!

Noticed that after several weeks, it seems that the fuel level in the header tank goes down by a gallon or two. Fuel line vale to primer and carb is closed. No signs of any leakage anywhere in cowl or behind panel. Does not seem reasonable that fuel would backfeed thru the fuel pump and back into the wing tank. Anyone observed this before?
