The 1/2" diameter hole location on the horizontal stabilizer is as shown in the attached photos. Due to the rudder fitting location about 0.32" below the top surface of the HS upper skin, I would recommend drilling this hole with the HS removed. This will also allow deburring of the hole and prevent drill damage to the rudder fitting.

Does anyone have the measurements recommended as to where to drill the hole in the horizontal stabilizer to lubricate the rudder control bellcrank assembly as recommended in SM 63? Airplane is an F-1A and may not even need it, but would like to check to be sure. We want to drill the hole directly over the area to be lubricated, but cannot find any recommendations. Would prefer not to disassemble the stabilizer if not necessary.
