Hey American Boat Sales: Yes, I have replaced seals on both tapered and flanged engines.
I recommend you clean the shaft thoroughly (after prop and hub removal) using a scotch brite pad & WD-40. Remove the key from the key way and lubricate the seal and shaft with a light coat of engine oil. put a light coat of sealer around the opening, being certain that none will get pushed into the engine, and carefully push the new seal into place. Let it set for at least 24 hours before starting the engine.
Of course, you must make an entry in the engine log book with your A & P number and signature when doing this.

Anyone have any experience to share on removal of old seal, installation of single piece New prop hub oil seal on a tapered shaft C-85?
The Cub article did the trick on prop removal, but no seal tips.Thanks, Ben (228)222-5442 anytime N93511 415C
