Thanks Ronald. That’s exactly what I was afraid of, and needed to know.

Unless the terneplate fuselage fuel tank has been replaced with a stainless steel tank and the terneplate wing fuel tanks replaced with aluminum alloy or stainless steel tanks, the tanks should be inspected frequently for signs of leakage at intervals not greater than 25 hours. If tank leakage is observed, the tank should be replaced with one of stainless steel or aluminum alloy, as required, before the next flight.

Some had 5 gallon header tanks and 8 gallon wing tanks, for a total of 21 gallons.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know where to find detail on the early tanks; and pros/cons on steel?

most have the 9-gallon wing tanks and 6 gallon header-=24 gal total
Earlier ones had 8-gallon wing tanks and 6 gallon header=22 gal total
the earlier ones were made out of steel I think it was later replaced with the 9-gallon tank.

I’m looking at a ‘46/415-D, and see 21 gallons instead of 24 gallons. I also understand some earlier C’s had 2! Gal
Capacity. Would like a bit more understanding for this, and wonder where the 3 gal. Went?
