Alon A-2 Flight Manual

I picked up my Alon in East Texas and flew it to Southern California. The weather was nice but with the sun shining through the canopy it was warm most of the way to say the least. I was a little concerned about opening the canopy in flight. Since this is the canopy that slides aft, I wasn’t sure if opening it in flight would be an issue. Do any of you have any comments? If you do open it in flight can you close and latch it before landing? Can you take off and or land with it open and does it degrade the performance much? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
